Shannon Powell is the co-founder of Indivisible Westchester, a grassroots progressive organization with more than 4,000 members. She was a crucial player in the last few election cycles in the county, serving as political director for the Mimi Rocah campaign, leading the effort to defeat Rob Astorino and elect George Latimer, and flip numerous County Legislature, State Senate, and Congressional seats, including the Delgado and Brindisi races. She was twice named to City & State’s Top 50 Most Influential People in Westchester and is the chair of the Westchester Women’s Advisory Board. Previously, Shannon was a television news producer, reporter and anchor with a decade of experience in Washington, covering Capitol Hill, presidential races, conventions and inaugurations. She has lived and worked in Alabama, Nebraska, Minnesota, Washington DC, and New York. She lives in Larchmont, New York.
Tom Watson is a former political reporter (New York Times, Riverdale Press, Forbes) who has served as a consultant to progressive and social change causes for the last 20 years, including the Innocence Project, Vera Institute for Justice, the Clinton Foundation, 32BJ SEIU, the Sidney Hillman Foundation, and the Tuskegee Airmen. A progressive activist and verified Twitter pundit with more than 50,000 followers, he comments regularly on political issues and contributes to publications as varied as City & State and the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Tom is a lecturer in the nonprofit management masters program at Columbia University, and serves on the boards of directors of BronxWorks and Ms. Foundation for Women. He lives in Mount Vernon, New York and serves on the Board of the Westchester Human Rights Commission.
